LEISURE TIME FOR BOOTS
In my career I have met the pampered pet dogs that wear
sweaters, bandannas and fancy ribbons. Living in a world
of dog treats, dog toys and kisses they bounce about like
suspended pieces of fluff. Dogs with names like “Spike”
and “Killer” will not be found here, however
“Fluffy” and “Boots” will surely
be.
Discipline will not be found in the world of the pampered.
It has been buried deep like an old bone, never to surface.
This is not the life led by a working dog that must perform
on command and be responsible for the lives of others.
As a working guide dog could I be tempted into this life
of leisure? After a hard day of dodging traffic and pedestrians
you bet I could.
Just call me “Boots” and stick a ribbon on
me.
