EDUCATION
The
roots of education are bitter…
but the fruit is sweet
Aristotle
After completing my puppy training I was tested and found
to have the right stuff to become a guide dog. I trained
four to five months under the watchful eye of an instructor
to develop the skills needed for guide work. The training
is rigorous and only the best graduate.
It is the human equivalent of receiving a doctorate degree
from a leading university. Considered a professional I now
receive many privileges that are denied other dogs.
One of my favorites is that the law allows a guide dog
to be beside their visually impaired partner in the passenger
section of an airplane. Pet dogs ride in dog crates in the
cargo section.
Getting your belly scratched by a cute flight attendant
at 30 thousand feet is a treat. Whether this privilege is
accorded other passengers I am uncertain.
I am certain there is no belly scratching in the cargo
section. Getting your belly scratched on an airplane is
reason enough to get a good education.
